Kneed

at the pavilion, originally uploaded by Dru Marland.

I was over in deepest Oxfordshire, chez Beard, last weekend; arrived just in time to see young Arthur finish the innings for the village team. Richard was doing the scoring...

Richard sent out a quick bulletin yesterday; he's damaged a tendon in his knee, in a similar manner to what happened last year. So he's now in John Radcliffe hospital (or so a Tweet informed me, a short while ago).

Richard, last year

  2. As Monty Python says, "Always look on the bright side of life."

There's beauty in symmetry. Richard will now have lovely matching scars on both knees. Until then, may the Lord keep him safe from opportunistic panthers.

  3. Poor Richard. I am as guilty as any at making light of his situation. It must be rather awful for him, and for his family. Ironically, I was rather envying the happy bonhomie of the cricket field here, when I was over there last week. Almost seduced away from my ideological position that sport is bad, very bad.

  4. It always seems to be the sporty types. Unless the world ends as we know it, he can always keep up in a taxi.

Doesn't Arthur look like his dad?
