As regular readers of
Upside Down In Cloud will know, Julie Bindel and I don't
always see
eye to eye on things. But I have always admired her activism in furtherance of the cause of Julie Bindel.
Which is why I thought I should publicise this evident attempt to discredit her, over on Twitter. Shame on you, the pretend Julie Bindel!
You're not the only one Dru. Put Julie Bindel into Google and Julie Bindel transgender is no. 2, with Julie Bindel transphobia coming in at no. 4.
ReplyDeleteShe seems to have really lost touch with what Liberation is all about, ie. personal freedom to be who you are, who you want to be.
No surprise that she's supported by the likes of Bea Campbell and others up the backsides of their own dogma.
Remember Cllr Rosalind Mitchell and how she was excluded by the Labour Womens' Group?
Sadly, I didn't come in on that Google search until page 4. Hey ho.
ReplyDeleteIt's a living, though, BTL. As long as she has a paying platform for her stuf, I guess that it will keep coming. I really hoped that after the Bindel/Stryker encounter in Manchester, where Julie was given chapter and verse on where her stated views were wrong -and apparently *accepted* that -she might have gone silent on the trans stuff. Still, as the last time it was in print, it was in a rather fluffy lesbian lifestyle mag, maybe we shouldn't take it too much to heart. Persiflage and a touch of contumely is a far better response than outrage...
Yes, I do remember Rosalind Mitchell. As I recall, though, that business of the women's group might have been handled more sensitively. Though I don't know any of the parties involved, and you know how far away the facts can be from the reportage.
Too true all.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing so good as a bit of juicy persiflage.
