And we do get open-air phone boxes too, but what with our climate, the old-fashioned ones can be handy on a dark and stormy night. Though it's years since I last used one.

I suppose the chap recreating Rommel's role would be trundling along the A38 in the direction of the airport, Claire. But yes, it's a shame that the Engerland chicken isn't taking off as I'd hoped. People just aren't patriotic enough, I reckon.

The 'something wrong' in the picture is that flag is upside-down.Dru Marlandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03697874363783821382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2448752251053894818.post-43730514996860446632010-06-16T20:32:06.344+01:002010-06-16T20:32:06.344+01:00He'll never get up that hill carrying that tre...He'll never get up that hill carrying that tree trunk!
Anyway the "En-ger-land Chicken" would be better.
Is there and equivalent buggy coming down the hill with German flags on, in a Rommell-Monty style face off?Claire L Hallamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01535569086150530774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2448752251053894818.post-89987108356006293772010-06-16T17:34:43.804+01:002010-06-16T17:34:43.804+01:00I think it's wonderful that you still have pho...I think it's wonderful that you still have phone boxes. Here in the US, phone booths, as we called them were replaced decades ago with open air payphones. Now, most of those are disappearing, because nearly everyone has a mobile phone. Even the street corner mailboxes are disappearing. The US Postal Service says they don't collect enough letters anymore, to justify their existence.

Cute poem!Melissahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04600684740584460891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2448752251053894818.post-55103997209112362672010-06-16T13:08:14.175+01:002010-06-16T13:08:14.175+01:00Well put.

Promising name for a tune, I reckon, ranking with "The 79th's Farewell to Gibraltar" and "The 3.141593's Farewell to Euclidian Geometry" [Bob Goddard wrote that last one but I may have remembered the wrong number].Deliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05338581030767010135noreply@blogger.com
